Greg Landry's Articles.. Exercise
Videos - An Indoor Alternative Let's face it - exercising consistently can be a challenge. Thus, if your goal is to be consistent with it, you should do everything you can to make it as easy as possible. One of the things you can do is to have a back-up plan for the times that you can't do your normal exercise. That may be when it's too hot, too cold, or raining outside, or perhaps when you can't get to the gym. Those can very easily become excuses to skip your exercise for the day.. or days. But having a convenient indoor alternative gets rid of the excuses and helps you to be more consistent. An inexpensive, enjoyable, and effective way to exercise indoors is with exercise videos. Member Karen R. recently started using exercise videos and says she's hooked on them. She was kind enough to share this information with us: My favorites are: 1. "Fat Burning Workout for Dummies" with Gay Gasper This one has enough variety so that the time goes fast. It took me a few times to learn it because I was not used to doing this. This one is about an hour long.2. "March to Fitness" with Kathy Smith. This is about a half hour long, not too difficult but has some variety.3. Leslie Sansone's "Two Mile Walk" This is a good beginner video very basic--but I needed to move on to something more challenging. and the "Four Mile Walk" is good but somewhat repetitive. My least favorite: "Sweatin' to the Oldies" with Richard Simmons. I did not like the music and I could not follow his rhythmic style.I did buy some other ones that I have used less frequently: "Stability Ball for Dummies" is good but I tend to use other ones more often. Also, two more Leslie Sansone "Volume 2 and 3 2-Mile Walk and Power Walk 4-miles" are good for beginning but it was too repetitive for me after a while."Pilates for Dummies" I just did once and did not go back to do again also, "The Firm Body Sculpting Basics" and Denise Austin "Pilates for Every Body" only once. I may go back to these again.I just ordered some step aerobics videos and a step. I felt that I was ready to go to intermediate. I will let you know if I find more that I like.Greg's note: You can usually find inexpensive used exercise videos on site such as Amazon.
